In Bed (A Poem)

I take all my secrets
to bed with me
and while I
dream of
deeds long done
I do not twist a bit
nor does guilt
pound like waves in my head
I sleep like a child
with an innocent thumb
placed in my mouth
and I need no
sleepy time elixir
to help into sleep
I fall quite easily
into its velvet grasp
taking  seconds
within the blink of an eye
I am gone
to that wondrous place
and no puddles of conscience
to drown me
I simply ease into it
   a lovely sleep
and let my day end
on a high note
